Seminar on “the due diligence in the garment and footwear sector” on february , 26th 2020

The Moroccan National Contact Point organizes a Seminar on “Due diligence in the Garment and footwear sector”, on Wednesday 26 February 2020 at the Sheraton Hotel in Casablanca. The objective of this seminar is to enable the companies to understand the notion of due diligence within the framework of the OECD guidelines and its implementation in the specific context of the textile sector, notably through the presentation of the OECD Guidance on Due Diligence in the Garment and Footwear Sector. The OECD Guidance on Due Diligence for responsible business conduct will also be presented in a complementary perspective with the Garment Guidance. This Guidance is a practical guide adapted to all sectors which explains the implementation of the OECD Guidelines through a simple explanation of the recommendations concerning due diligence. This seminar should answer the following questions: – What is the due diligence process as set out in the OECD Guidelines? – Are Moroccan companies concerned by this due diligence? – What interest does a company have in exercising due diligence in the context of its activity? – What are the potential adverse impacts related to the activities of comapnies operating in the garment sector and its value chains? – How can companies cease, prevent and mitigate the risks of adverse impacts of their activities? The seminar is aimed in particular at : – Companies operating in the garment and footwear sector, whatever their size. – Moroccan Association of Textile and Clothing Industries (AMITH). – Institutions, professionals and experts operating in the sector. The seminar will be led by OECD experts who will bring their knowledge and expertise in the field, notably to present the Guidance of the OECD, guide the debates and organise the scenarios.
