Participation in a workshop in the framework of the GTEX MENATEX programme on 26 September 2019 in Casablanca

The Moroccan NCP took part in the workshop which was jointly organized by the Initiative for Compliance and Sustainability (ICS) and the International Trade Center (ITC), within the framework of the GTEX / MENATEX program entitled “The Kingdom of Morocco: strengthening the export competitiveness of the textile and clothing sector”, on 26 September 2019 in Casablanca. The GTEX / MENATEX programme is implemented in partnership with the Moroccan government, the Swiss government within the framework of the Global Textiles and Clothing Programme (GTEX) and by the Swedish government within the framework of the Middle East and North Africa region Textiles Programme (MENATEX). It is being implemented by the International Trade Centre (ITC) over a period of 3 years (November 2018 to December 2021). The NCP intervened on the theme “The duty of vigilance of multinational enterprises within the framework of the OECD Guidelines”. As part of this intervention, the NCP presented this unique mechanism which is the NCP, its missions, the OECD Guidelines as well as the concept of due diligence as provided by the OECD`s due diligence guidance for responsible business conduct. In addition, the workshop was an opportunity for the NCP to present and answer the following questions: – The relationship between due diligence and corporate sustainability. – Are SMEs concerned by the due diligence duty? – Will due diligence help the SMEs to strengthen their export position? – Will due diligence enable SMEs to diversify their capacity of exports?
